USS ENTERPRISE (CVN-65)
I am also working on the 1/350 USS Enterprise kit from Tamiya. This is a hugely complex project, mainly because the kit lacks detail. My intention is to build the ship as it appeared during Operation Enduring Freedom, with CWA-8.
The hangar deck is completely scratchbuilt, as the kit has no hangar included. Not even a floor. This required considerable research, but in the end I could not find accurate imagery of the hangar for the period around 2001. That's okay, because as an artist I don't mind filling in the blanks. I painted (using Corel Painter) a little reproduction of the mural located on the fire doors that splits the hangar in two. Feel free to download and use if you are so inclined. When shrunk to the right size, it works pretty well. The various placard decals for the walls are provided by Patrice Rouyer.
