AKULA "TYPHOON" CLASS, DMITRY DONSKOY (TK-208)
I am fascinated by machines that fly and those that go deep. Combine that with an interest in Cold War history, and the submarine is a clear choice as a scale model project for me. Sadly, submarines are rather boring to build - they are tubular and black, and unless you build a model exposing its innards, a sub model is not much to look at. However, the Soviet/Russian Akula class (or Typhoon, as it is known to the West) is covered with large, sound-absorbing tiles. So, I am using tjhe same technique I applied for my Space Shuttle Discovery model. The result should be a sub model with a realistic texture. The kit I am using is the Alanager 1/350 "TK-17 Arkhangelsk", which is considered much more accurate than the one released by Dragon. It is, after all, a Russian kit!
