EARTH

Originally, my plan was to produce a portfolio of images following the chronology of Earth’s history, each original piece an attempt to capture an eon, era, period, or epoch during the past six billion years of our planet’s evolution. The original six digital paintings have been moved to the 2D portfolio. Having been inspired to incorporate the style I developed for the Period Table of Elements project, I decided to implement a different strategy. Now, I will depict the history of the Earth in 720 blocks arrayed in five matrices. Each matrix (~1.2 m x 1.2 m) will represent about a billion years, each block (10.2 cm x 10.2 cm) about 7 million years. I've been stewing on this concept for years, not knowing how to artistically capture this epic story. The solution finally revealed itself on August 31, 2026.
