Lots Going On…

I’ve been busy with work and life, but also a bit here and there when it comes to various scale models and some artwork as time allows. I’m building four models at once, with a fifth possibly coming on line. I work slowly because Cheryl and I only have so much time for our hobbies, but I also want to avoid burnout. Keeping several projects going helps to avoid subject matter burnout, and by not working on hobbies incessantly we avoid burnout on those things which give us pleasure and recharge batteries. So, maybe 4-5 hours a week.

So, what am I working on? Here is a list:

  • 1/32 F4U-1D Corsair (Tamiya). Lots of landing gear wheel well detail and cleaning up the intake grills, which do not match up terribly well.

  • 1/32 Bf-109 G-14 with winter camoflage (Zoukei Mura). First is to paint the thing in its conventional camoflage, then go over all that work with a “winter wash” type of thing, effectively simulating the effect in the field.

  • 1/350 CVN-65 (Tamiya) - dusted this one off; had been in storage for years. On this one, a lot of work on the island.

  • 1/350 CVN-80 (Tamiya) - a much better kit than the late 1970s CVN-65 kit. On this one, I am scratchbuilding the hanger deck.
