This is a 1/32 Zoukei Mura kit of the Bf-109G-14 aircraft, painted to represent the one flown during the Winter of 1944-1945 by Erich “Bubi” Hartmann, the most successful fighter ace in the history of aerial warfare. The kit came together very nicely, and modifications were minor (adding hoses and wiring to engine, for example). The winter scheme apparent here was called “distemper,” applied by ground crew and pilots in a slapdash manner to help hide planes while snow and ice were on the ground. The stuff came off very easily, being a water-based material. It was a bit painful to work hard at the camoflage only to cover it up a bit with white. This was my first model in which I painted a camo scheme, and I was pleased with the result. A shoutout to 1ManArmy, who produces precision painting templates for insignia and stenciling. His products are outstanding. Completed in late 2025.
The photos could be better in this case - apologies for that!
