After about a year of work, perhaps a total of 200 hours or so, this model of the fictional Deep Spaceship (DSS) Bonestell was completed in 2021. I’m not an engineer, but I designed this representation of a vehicle capable of moving between planets in our solar system. I wanted it to have some sort of nuclear engine, a centerfuge for the comfort of the crew, and a dome shield to protect the vehicle as it plows through debris. Also, it evolved as parts became available (ping pong balls, bottles, and other bits). As with all projects completed it is a bittersweet milestone, for the journey is over. On the other hand, I can travel vicariously aboard this miniature version of an interplanetary vessel at my leisure.
